In interpreting a controversial historical figure like Queen Marie Antoinette, we chose to refer to the turning point in her style that caused the most scandal and sensation in France on the threshold of the Revolution: the one in which the queen literally took off the pompous clothes still in vogue at the Court of France, to move towards greater sobriety and freshness in clothing.
